Block 7 Reserve Shiraz
$1,056.00Meet a new, very special member of the Leura Park Estate family. . .
We are thrilled to announce the release of our first ever BLOCK 7 Reserve Shiraz. Vintage 2021.
From our tiny 1.5 acre shiraz block here onsite. Nurtured within an inch of its’ life from berry to bottle. Just like our BLOCK 1 Reserve Chardonnay, this wine represents a pinnacle of fine wine craftmanship, the elegant palate well and truly standing tall and speaking for itself. For the serious wine buffs, here’s the full tech spec run down:
REGION Geelong - The Bellarine
CLONES Great Western Langi
WINE ANALYSIS:
Alc/Vol: 13.3% v/v
pH: 3.61
Acidity: 5.9
Residual Sugar: Dry
The fruit for our Block 7 Reserve Shiraz is picked then fermented in small batches using differing techniques to optimise complexity. A combination of cold soak, whole bunches, whole berry fermentation and natural yeasts are employed. Post ferment the batches are pressed, settled then racked to a combination of new and used seasoned French oak for maturation and malolactic fermentation. Following 10 months maturation in oak the components of the wine are racked, blended, filtered and bottled without fining.

Here’s what the Halliday team had to say about it. . .
“A deepish ruby red. A touch closed when first poured, this opened up nicely over then next 10 to 15 mins, revealing a gamut of red fruits and spices such as pink peppercorns, fennel seeds, fresh mint and sage. Tightly wound and compact on the palate. Very fine and persistent tannins round out a wine that will unfurl and become silkier and more complex over the eight or so years.”
And here’s what our Leura Park Estate Winemaker, Darren Burke has to say about it. . .
“Whole berry fermentation, gentle extraction and maturation in premium French oak (25% new) for 10 months. Held back in bottle for 2 years prior to release. Right now the wine is deep ruby garnet with aromas of dark cherry, spice, blackcurrant and classic Bellarine pepper. Medium bodied with a rich luxurious mouthfeel and a long complex palate with refined teasing tannins. For me personally, I would drink it now and over the next 7 years.”
